CAREER HIGHLIGHTS


Over 20 years of valuation and consulting experience within the energy industry has provided Rob a wealth of knowledge in the development of complex property valuations, property tax management, expert testimony, mergers and acquisitions, purchase price allocation, and tax incentive consulting. His work, particularly in the valuation and property tax consulting venues, has given him a broad range of national and international experience in the refining, chemical, and utility business sectors.

Rob’s consulting career began at Pritchard & Abbott, Inc., where his responsibilities included supervision of the Austin industrial department, development of major complex property valuations, and expert testimony for litigation purposes. Rob then joined Ernst & Young, LLP where he managed property tax departments for large corporations, consulted in various tax assignments, and provided advisory services for a multi-billion dollar refinery merger.

As a consultant at Muse, Stancil & Co., Rob continued his consulting career performing engineering and appraisal services for energy-related clients.

Rob joined Stancil & Co. as a consultant and partner in January 2004.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE


  • Appraisal Services - Developed appraisal reports and performed appraisal services for numerous energy clients. Experience includes valuations of refineries, chemical plants, aboveground and underground storage facilities, gas processing plants, and utilities. The reports for governmental entities and operating companies were completed for ad valorem tax, finance, acquisition, and lease purposes. When required, expert testimony was provided to support conclusions.
  • Property Tax Management - Managed the property tax department for a major independent oil company for four years. The responsibilities associated with this assignment included tax compliance, incentive analysis, evaluations of all major company assets for the executive board, and other consulting functions for the client. Consulted, advised, and assisted clients with their property tax operations and functions in the U.S., Canada, and the former Soviet Union.
  • Expert Testimony - Provided testimony at numerous hearings and depositions across the U.S. supporting the conclusions of value. Prepared and offered several presentations discussing appraisal concepts and techniques.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions - Provided advisory services associated with refinery due diligence studies, purchase price allocations, and asset valuations.
  • Tax Incentive - Provided analyses of available tax exemptions and abatements for a number of industries across the U.S. Past consulting assignments were determined for the utility, chemical, refinery, and manufacturing sectors of business.
