CAREER HIGHLIGHTS


Larry has over 20 years of combined experience in the financial and energy industries. He has experience in mergers and acquisitions, petroleum asset valuations, purchase price allocations, and ad valorem tax valuations. Larry has worked on a number of acquisitions and divestitures, assisting both buyers and sellers. His valuation experience in the downstream energy sector includes refineries, pipelines, and terminals.

Larry began his career in banking as an operations supervisor. His responsibilities included cash management and financial reporting. In 1988, Larry joined Squyres, Johnson, & Squyres, a CPA firm, and was responsible for tax return preparation and audit engagements. Larry joined Muse, Stancil & Co. in 1990 and served as controller and treasurer. His responsibilities included financial reporting, tax planning, and all aspects of human resources.

In July 1996, Larry was one of the original members of Stancil & Co. and broadened his career by performing financial analysis and valuation services for the energy industry. Larry has performed valuations for mergers and acquisitions, ad valorem taxes, bank financing, and project development. His work experience includes discounted cash flow models, weighted average cost of capital analysis, comparable sales analysis, contract analysis, and litigation support.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE


  • Mergers & Acquisitions - Performed due diligence and valuations on assets being considered for acquisition or disposition. Assets included BP’s Alliance, Yorktown, and Mandan refineries and BP’s Rocky Mountain Pipeline System. Analyses included cash flow analysis based on historical and future earnings, capital requirements, and fair market valuations.
  • Ad Valorem Tax Valuation Services - Prepared valuations of refining facilities, gas processing facilities, and crude oil and product pipelines used to support settlement negotiations and litigation in property tax assessment appeals.
  • Purchase Price Allocation - For the acquiring company, prepared the fair market valuation and the purchase price allocations for financial and tax reporting of the acquired assets.
  • Valuation Services - Prepared valuations of downstream energy assets used to support project development and bank financing.
  • Stock Valuation - Performed stock price projections based on increased earnings from refinery upgrade projects for a public company.
  • Comparable Refinery Sales - Researched and analyzed refinery transactions dating back to 1995 including purchase price allocation, pro forma earnings, market-derived discount rates, capital expenditures, and environmental requirements.
